India has defeated Netherlands by 17 runs in their last league stage match. The spinner Varun Chakravarthy, with an outstanding 3/14 after Shivam Dube hitting a brilliant 66, led India to a 17-run win over the Netherlands national cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday and secured the top position in Group A.
Shivam Dube Earned Him The Player of the Match Award
Dube’s innings greatly shifted the momentum of the game before Varun Chakravarthy came up with another fiery spell to help India demolish the opponents by 17 runs in the T20 World Cup. An exceptional all-round display by India, who defeated the Netherlands by 17 runs, results in an unbeaten run in Group A of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
India had a great moment when they scored 193/,6 and after that they stayed calm to put a stop to the Dutch team at 176/7 in 20 overs, thus recording their fourth straight win in the tournament.
Despite Bas de Leede being the top scorer for the Netherlands with 33, their batters battled hard till the last over.
Before this, Dube’s 66 off just 31 balls had led India to a total that was very difficult to chase. Abhishek Sharma suffered his third consecutive duck, but Ishan Kishan (18), Tilak Varma (31), and Suryakumar Yadav (34) scored enough runs to keep the team in a good position.
Dube and Hardik Pandya (30) then put together a very important 76-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Aryan Dutt was the best bowler for the Netherlands with 2/19.
India vs Netherlands: Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube For Win
India went on to post a competitive 193/6, largely powered by a blazing 66 off 31 balls from Shivam Dube in the latter half of the innings, after first losing wickets to off-spinner Aryan Dutt.
The Netherlands were always on the back foot, and Varun Chakravarthy bettered that situation for India as he ended the game with 3/14 from three overs. The mystery spinner got a wicket in the power play and another in the middle overs while relentlessly attacking the stumps. At the 13th over, he took the wickets of Colin Ackermann and Dutt off consecutive deliveries, thus reducing the Netherlands to 94/4.
One with the bat, Bas de Leede, and the skipper Scott Edwards were let go shortly after, thereby dashing the hopes of the associate side that ended their ICC T20 World Cup campaign with 3 losses and one win.
A late stand between Zach Lion-Cachet (26* off 16) and Noah Croes (25* off 12) brought some excitement to the game, featuring an 18-run 19th over off Hardik Pandya; however, the Dutch target was too stiff to reach.
With a view to the upcoming important fixtures, the captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to hand the final over to Dube instead of Jasprit Bumrah. Two catches went down, yet Dube led the defence of 28 runs in the final over, which saw the Netherlands finish at 176/7.
IND seal Super 8 spot at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup; next vs South Africa national cricket team
India, who are the most highly rated title favourites, have moved on to the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, having won all their matches in Group A, and their next match will be against the South African national cricket team. The only chink in their armour, however, seems to be their susceptibility to spin bowling.
