Spotlight on India–Argentina Relations
A key highlight of Globoil 2025 was the strong representation from Argentina, one of India’s largest trading partners in the vegetable oil sector. Argentina remains India’s top supplier of soybean oil and a significant sunflower oil partner, a relationship that has only deepened with time.
Speaking at the summit, Argentine Ambassador Mariano Caucino noted: “We firmly believe that the vegetable oil sector can continue to serve as a pillar of mutual growth and cooperation in the years ahead.”
This optimism was supported by robust figures. According to the Rosario Board of Trade, Argentina’s soybean oil production reached 8.7 million tons in 2023/24, the highest in a decade. Between January and July 2025, Argentina exported 2.1 million tons of soybean oil and 0.42 million tons of sunflower oil to India—a record that reaffirms Argentina’s role as a reliable supplier in turbulent global markets.
Adding to the insights, Agustín Larralde, Director of Market Planning & Analysis of Agri-Food Markets, emphasized Argentina’s ability to maintain strong output despite climate volatility. His outlook reinforced confidence in Argentina’s capacity to meet India’s growing demand.
Thematic Focus: Sustainability and Innovation
Throughout the three-day summit, discussions revolved around climate impact, technological innovation, policy frameworks, and sustainable supply chains. Speakers stressed that the edible oil industry must move beyond short-term trade strategies and embrace long-term measures, such as carbon neutrality, regenerative agriculture, and digitized trading platforms.
Mr. Aadil Singh, Director of Tefla’s, the organiser of Globoil India, remarked: “Globoil India once again proved to be a world-class platform for dialogue, collaboration, and deal-making. This year’s emphasis on sustainability and innovation will shape the edible oil industry for years to come.”
Delegates also exchanged views on global demand projections, volatility in palm oil prices, India’s import strategies, and trade policies in light of shifting geopolitical and environmental challenges.
A Glamorous Cultural Evening
While policy and trade dominated the daytime sessions, the evenings showcased India’s unique blend of business and entertainment. The awards night on September 25 was a glamorous affair, infused with Bollywood charm and international cultural performances.
Actresses Bhagyashree and Vaani Kapoor added star power to the event, while singer Farid Ahmed and performer Baabarr Mudacer delivered energetic musical sets. Delegates were also treated to an International Dance and Fashion Show, offering a perfect balance of leisure after three intensive days of high-level deliberations.
The evening not only provided entertainment but also celebrated the achievements of industry leaders, recognizing their contributions to growth, innovation, and global cooperation.
Globoil India’s Journey: 28 Years of Excellence
Since its inception nearly three decades ago, Globoil India has evolved into a premier global platform under the patronage of the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA). Organised by Tefla’s, the summit has consistently facilitated knowledge exchange, trade partnerships, and international cooperation.
Today, Globoil is regarded as a must-attend event for the vegetable oil and allied industries, offering a unique mix of policy discussions, market insights, deal-making opportunities, and cultural experiences.
Looking Ahead
The successful conclusion of Globoil India 2025 highlights the increasing importance of international collaboration in addressing the challenges of a rapidly evolving edible oil market. By bringing together stakeholders across geographies, the summit reaffirmed its role as a global catalyst for growth, sustainability, and innovation.
With India positioned as the world’s largest importer and consumer of edible oils, the dialogues and partnerships formed at Globoil India are expected to shape future trade flows and sustainability pathways, not only for India but for the entire global market.
As the industry adapts to changing demand patterns, geopolitical shifts, and environmental imperatives, Globoil India’s role as a bridge between business, policy, and culture will only grow stronger in the years ahead.
