Mumbai: CritiCare Asia Hospitals, a Mumbai-based multi-specialty healthcare group, has introduced the CORI robotic-assisted surgical system for joint replacement procedures, marking a significant step in its continued focus on advanced orthopedic care as the institution completes 25 years of service.

The hospital network, which operates four facilities across Mumbai — Andheri, Juhu, Malad and Kurla — has a combined capacity of over 650 beds and has consistently invested in technology-driven treatment options aimed at improving surgical precision and patient recovery.

The newly installed system, developed by Smith+Nephew, is designed to assist surgeons with real-time data and planning tools that enable accurate bone preparation and implant positioning. Hospital officials said the technology is expected to support better joint function, faster rehabilitation and more personalised surgical outcomes.

The system was inaugurated on February 15 by filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, who noted that access to advanced medical technology can help patients return to their daily lives more quickly.

CritiCare Asia Hospitals is also expanding its robotic program beyond knee replacements to include robotic hip replacements, in addition to total and partial knee procedures. This reflects a broader commitment to mobility restoration, joint preservation, and long-term patient well-being.

Under the leadership of Founders and Directors Dr. Deepak Namjoshi and Dr. Masuuma Namjoshi, CritiCare Asia Hospitals has continued to strengthen its focus on robotic-assisted orthopedic care through consistent investments in advanced surgical technologies. With the introduction of the latest system, the group now stands out as the only hospital network in Mumbai to offer three robotic platforms — Cuvis, Velys, and the CORI system by Smith+Nephew — enabling surgeons to choose the most suitable technology based on each patient’s specific clinical needs.

Hospital representatives stated that the initiative aligns with the group’s broader focus on restoring mobility and delivering patient-centric care, with an emphasis on making globally benchmarked treatment options more accessible and affordable for residents across the city. The hospital remains committed to providing cost-effective, technology-driven healthcare, backed by experienced doctors, paramedics, and nursing teams, while offering comprehensive treatment under one roof. Officials added that these efforts are part of their ongoing mission to strengthen patient safety, clinical outcomes, and accessibility in orthopedic care.
