PC Jeweller shares gained 12.59% on October 16, closing at ₹16.28, after investor attention turned to a ₹73.59 crore bulk deal involving Aditya Kumar Halwasiya, Chairman and Managing Director of Cupid Limited. The purchase came shortly after the jewellery retailer announced that it had repaid its outstanding dues to all 14 consortium banks.
The transaction involved 5.10 crore PC Jeweller shares purchased at an average price of ₹14.43 apiece on October 15, according to exchange data reported by Mint. The deal has brought renewed attention to the company’s financial recovery and Halwasiya’s investment activity.
Who Is Aditya Kumar Halwasiya?
Aditya Kumar Halwasiya is the Chairman and Managing Director of Cupid Limited, a listed company operating in healthcare and consumer products. He is a third-generation entrepreneur from the Universal Halwasiya Group, founded by the late Madan Mohan Halwasiya in the early 1960s.
Halwasiya studied at La Martiniere for Boys and St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata before completing a master’s degree in global finance at Fordham University in New York. According to the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026, his wealth rose 859% to ₹18,800 crore.
His reported investments extend beyond PC Jeweller. Companies associated with his investment portfolio include Tourism Finance Corporation of India, Baazar Style Retail, Karnataka Bank, South Indian Bank and Apollo Micro Systems. These investments provide exposure to financial services, organised retail, banking and defence technology.
The PC Jeweller transaction is notable because it adds a jewellery business to the range of companies attracting attention in connection with his investments. However, the purchase alone does not establish his long-term intentions or guarantee future performance for PC Jeweller shareholders.
PC Jeweller’s Debt-Free Milestone
PC Jeweller announced that it had cleared its outstanding dues to all 14 consortium banks on September 25, 2026. The company had previously carried debt of approximately ₹3,000 crore and entered a one-time settlement process with lenders in September 2024.
The company subsequently received no-objection, no-dues and release letters from its lenders covering mortgaged assets, guarantees and related securities. Completing the repayment marks a major step in its efforts to strengthen its balance sheet after years of financial pressure.
The improvement in its financial position has coincided with renewed investor interest. PC Jeweller also reported a 28% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue for Q2 FY27, while receiving ₹142 crore in remittances from outstanding export debtors during the September quarter.
PC Jeweller Share Price and Returns
