Noida | March 04, 2026: On National Science Day (Feb 28), SciAstra organised its flagship offline gathering, SciAstra Diwas 2026, at the JSS University Auditorium, Sector 62, Noida. The event, built around the theme “Science Builds Nations,” brought together students, parents, researchers and educators for direct conversations on careers in science and long-term research pathways.

National Science Day marks the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel Laureate C. V. Raman. Keeping the spirit of the day in mind, the organisers focused the programme on encouraging students to look beyond examinations and think seriously about research as a lifelong pursuit.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Dr. A. P. Jayaraman, nuclear scientist and former Head – Media Relations at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. The Guest of Honour was Prof. Deepak Singh, former scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation and faculty member at IIT Bombay.

Addressing students from IISERs, IISc, NISER, IITs and other leading institutions, Dr. Jayaraman spoke about the responsibility that comes with being a scientist. He stressed that research and communication must move together, and introduced the idea of “scientific social responsibility,” urging young researchers to view science not only as a profession but as a public commitment.

Prof. Deepak Singh spoke about developments in planetary and space sciences, highlighting how research in these areas strengthens India’s scientific and space ambitions. He encouraged students to pursue rigorous, data-driven research while staying connected to the larger needs of society.

A special segment of the event featured a Science Communicators Panel Discussion, bringing together well-known science influencers and educators from across India. The discussion explored how digital platforms and public outreach are shaping scientific awareness in the country, and why effective communication is essential alongside laboratory research.

The programme remained fully offline to allow students to interact directly with scientists, ask questions, and seek mentorship. Interactive sessions and open discussions formed a key part of the day.

In a joint statement marking five years of SciAstra, founders Akhil Tripathi and Vivek Dwivedi reflected on the journey of building India’s largest research-focused student community, now connecting over 500,000 students nationwide.

“Five years ago, we kept meeting talented students who were working hard but lacked clarity about research pathways and mentorship. SciAstra was built to address that gap. Our focus has always been substance over noise and long-term impact over shortcuts,” they said.

Many members of the SciAstra community are currently studying at IISc, IISERs, NISER, IITs and other premier research institutions.

The organisers said the next phase will focus on expanding offline engagements, strengthening academia–industry alignment, and building clearer pathways for students who want to pursue meaningful careers in science.
