(AMS) has been empanelled by the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a Prime Development Agency (DA) for the Indigenous Precision Range Extension Kit (IPREK) programme under the Make-II (Industry Funded) category of the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020. The empanelment marks the company’s entry into India’s high-value precision-guided munitions (PGM) segment.

What is IPREK?
The Indigenous Precision Range Extension Kit (IPREK) is designed to convert the Indian Air Force’s existing 500 kg General Purpose (GP) bombs into long-range precision glide weapons.
According to the company, the system enables aircraft to release bombs from 80-100 kilometres away while achieving an accuracy of around 3 metres, allowing aircraft to remain outside hostile air defence zones. The kit integrates NavIC (IRNSS) satellite navigation along with Electro-Optical (EO), Infrared (IIR) and DSMAC guidance technologies.

Apollo Micro Systems said the programme represents a significant opportunity as India seeks to reduce dependence on imported precision-guided weapons.
The company estimates an import substitution opportunity of more than ₹20,000 crore over the next 10 years, while the global autonomous and precision weapon systems market is projected to reach around $10 billion by 2032. The company also noted that the initial procurement phase could involve more than 500 IPREK units, subject to successful trials and government procurement decisions.
