The Government of Maharashtra, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) have expanded the Maha r-PET Abhiyaan in Thane with a dedicated PET Collection Centre to strengthen the collection, segregation and recycling of used PET bottles.

The initiative includes dedicated PET collection bins, a participation certificate and Green Cool Dukaan sticker for retailers, along with three electric vehicles to support last-mile collection. Benches made from recycled PET plastic collected through the programme were also unveiled.

The new Thane centre will aggregate used PET bottles collected through participating retailers and collection partners before channelising the material into authorised recycling streams. The dedicated bins are designed to encourage segregation at source and improve the quality of PET collected for recycling.

The Maha r-PET Abhiyaan is a statewide initiative focused on improving PET recovery through source segregation, collection infrastructure and community participation. HCCB said the programme aims to strengthen a more organised and traceable supply chain for recyclable PET and support its movement towards high-value recycling applications.
