What’s the deal? Bridge Green Upcycle and Hartree Partners have entered into an eight-year lithium carbonate commercial agreement estimated at $500 million to $1 billion at current market conditions. Hartree will receive exclusive marketing rights for Bridge Green’s lithium carbonate and plans to purchase and market around 10,000 tonnes per year across all grades produced at the company’s commercial facilities.
Why now? The agreement comes as demand for critical minerals and more secure battery-material supply chains gains attention globally. Alongside the supply pact, Hartree is making an equity investment in Bridge Green’s bridge financing round, with the funding intended to support expansion in battery recycling and critical-mineral refining.
What it means. Bridge Green recovers materials from end-of-life and scrap lithium-ion batteries. Its Circularity Center India, commissioned in Q2 2026, has a nameplate capacity of around 7,200 tonnes of lithium-ion battery input per year. The company plans to expand its recycling and refining operations in India and the US, with Hartree positioned as a downstream marketing partner.
By the numbers. The initial agreement runs for 8 years, with an option to renew for another 7 years. Hartree’s planned purchases are approximately 10,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate annually, while the first lithium carbonate volumes under the agreement are projected for 2028. The headline $500 million-$1 billion value depends on delivered volumes and prevailing market prices, so it isn’t a guaranteed revenue figure.
What’s next? Bridge Green plans to use capital from its upcoming Series A to develop fully integrated commercial refining facilities in India and the US. The company is positioning battery recycling as a source of recovered critical minerals that can feed back into industrial supply chains.
EQMint Take on Bridge Green Upcycle and Hartree Sign
The agreement puts a large long-term commercial commitment behind battery recycling and recovered lithium. For Bridge Green, the combination of offtake, financing and planned refining capacity could support its next stage of expansion. For the wider circular-economy sector, it shows how recycled battery materials are becoming part of critical-mineral supply chains.
