Veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
According to hospital sources cited by NDTV, Patekar was found unconscious at his Goa home after complaining of a headache. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him for nearly 45 minutes. He was declared dead at 5:20 am.
Patekar, born Vishwanath Patekar, built a celebrated career across Hindi and Marathi cinema, known for his intense performances and distinctive dialogue delivery. His notable films include Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahaar, Natsamrat, Ab Tak Chhappan and Welcome. He was a three-time National Film Award winner and received the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to cinema and the arts.
His death marks the loss of one of Indian cinema’s most recognisable and versatile performers.
