Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) has announced the initiation of the design and development of a specially engineered electric vehicle for persons with disabilities. The initiative was announced on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and is aimed at promoting more inclusive, accessible and sustainable mobility in India.
EV Designed Around User Needs
The proposed electric vehicle will follow a human-centric design approach, with the mobility requirements of persons with disabilities at the centre of development.
OSM said the vehicle will focus on accessibility, safety, comfort, convenience and ease of use, with the broader objective of supporting greater independence in everyday transportation.
Focus on Inclusive Electric Mobility
Dr. Uday Narang, Founder and Chairman of Omega Seiki Mobility, said the company’s objective is to ensure that India’s transition to electric mobility also addresses the needs of people with diverse mobility requirements.
According to OSM, the initiative will combine technology, engineering and innovation to explore a practical mobility solution developed around real-world user needs.
The company plans to engage with users, experts and other relevant stakeholders during the development process. Their inputs are expected to help shape the vehicle’s design and functionality.
Made-in-India Mobility Solution
OSM said the initiative is also intended to explore a Made-in-India electric mobility solution that can contribute to more accessible transportation.
The company views the project as part of its broader focus on inclusive innovation and sustainable mobility. The development marks the beginning of a project aimed at creating an EV that can provide persons with disabilities with greater confidence and independence in their daily mobility.
