Mozambique’s Nampula Province is inviting Indian investors to explore oilseed production and edible oil processing. The pitch was made by Governor Eduardo Mariamo Abdula at the Asia Africa Agri Alliance dialogue during GLOBOIL India 2026 in Mumbai on October 1.

The Governor highlighted Nampula’s agricultural potential, including groundnuts, cotton, sesame, soybean and sunflower. With over two million hectares of arable land, the province aims to attract investment in local processing and agro-industrial development instead of relying on raw commodity exports.

A Letter of Intent was also signed between Nampula’s Provincial Executive Council, the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) and Solidaridad to support sustainable oilseed production, processing and market development.

The discussions highlighted the Nacala Corridor’s transport and port links as an advantage for reaching regional and international markets. The alliance also outlined plans to strengthen India–Africa agricultural trade through investment, technology transfer and knowledge exchange.

Nampula invited businesses to participate in the Economic Fair of Nampula (FENA) 2027, where further discussions on oilseed and vegetable oil value chains are proposed.
