A block deal in ITC triggered selling pressure across several stocks associated with global investment firm GQG Partners, as investors worried about potential further stake sales in the fund’s other portfolio companies.
The market reaction extended beyond ITC, with several companies linked to GQG witnessing declines. Among the stocks under pressure, Adani Group companies recorded some of the sharpest losses.
Patanjali Foods fell around 2%, while Ambuja Cements and GMR Airports declined approximately 4% each. IDFC First Bank slipped around 2%, reflecting broader concerns about possible selling activity among GQG-linked holdings.
Adani Power and Adani Energy Solutions dropped nearly 5% each, while Adani Enterprises declined around 5.5%. Adani Ports fell approximately 3%, and Adani Green Energy registered the steepest decline among the listed stocks, losing around 8%.
Max Healthcare fell nearly 4%, while HDFC Asset Management Company declined around 2.5%.
The ITC block deal has therefore created a near-term overhang for stocks associated with GQG Partners, as investors assess the possibility of further stake sales. However, the declines do not independently confirm that GQG intends to sell its holdings in these companies.
