The 14-year-old sensation produced one of the most explosive innings of IPL 2026, smashing 93 runs off just 38 balls as Rajasthan Royals chased down a massive 221-run target against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.

Rajasthan finished the chase in just 19.1 overs and won by 7 wickets. And honestly, this no longer looks like a “young talent” story anymore. This looks like a franchise building its future around a teenager.

LSG thought 220 was enough

Lucknow Super Giants actually batted brilliantly. Mitchell Marsh smashed 96 off 57 balls while Josh Inglis added a rapid 60, helping LSG post 220/5 in 20 overs. On most IPL nights, that total wins comfortably.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi destroys LSG, completely changed the match

The chase stopped feeling difficult once Sooryavanshi settled in.

He attacked almost every bowler:

  • 11 fours
  • 5 sixes
  • Strike rate above 240

More importantly, he destroyed LSG’s confidence early in the chase.

This innings also came just days after RR’s own coach publicly said the teenager needed to convert strong starts into bigger scores. He answered that immediately.

He’s no longer an impact player. He’s becoming RR’s identity

That’s the bigger story here.

At the start of the season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi looked like an exciting impact substitute. Now Rajasthan Royals increasingly look dependent on him for momentum, intent and pressure batting.

That’s unusual for any teenager in IPL history. And the numbers are becoming ridiculous too. Reports say he has already become the first Indian batter to hit 50 sixes in a single IPL season.

My analysis: RR may have accidentally found the next face of Indian T20 cricket

This innings felt different from a normal breakout knock.

Most young players attack fearlessly for a few matches. Very few control high-pressure chases against experienced IPL attacks while chasing 220.

That’s what stood out yesterday. Vaibhav wasn’t swinging blindly. He dictated tempo.

Rajasthan Royals now face an interesting situation:

  • Build the team around experienced stars
  • Or accelerate around this new fearless core

Because right now, the teenager looks like RR’s biggest match-winner. And IPL teams rarely ignore that for long.
